The Cards You Were Dealt is a project exploring choice, transgenerational dialogue, and transformation through tattooing. In the ongoing project, initially performed as part of the Gallery Weekend Festival 2023, a selection of texts are presented to a chosen participant. These texts are Richthofen's records of 21st century phenomena. If the participant agrees to get one of the texts tattooed, they then get to choose a selection of other texts for the following participant. The placement and composition of the text are decided collaboratively with the artist. The tattoos form a coherent text piece, a physical exquisite corpse, that is painted on a set of light boxes, echoing our individual but interconnected experience.

The exhibition ECCENTRIC explores the multifaceted spectrum of identity and humanity. The artists experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques. They look at and work on their motives and subjects from the most surprising perspectives. They distort, deform or liquefy figures and forms, combine them to form hybrid or amorphous compositions.

Participants who agreed to be tattooed could select three texts for the next participant, with placement and composition determined collaboratively with the artist. The resulting tattoos formed a continuous text piece— a physical exquisite corpse—mirrored in painted lightboxes, symbolizing our interconnected experiences.
