Group exhibition, Ginnheimer Landstraße 35, Frankfurt, Germany, 2022
RAT KINGZ is an immersive, interdisciplinary installation by Benni Kakert and Monty Richthofen, in collaboration with DJ Aya and Elias Asisi.
Kakert and Richthofen invite viewers to become part of a psychedelic experience in an off-location in Bockenheim, Frankfurt. Instead of the conventional white-cube environment that most are accustomed to, the artists present their work in an unconventional way, playing with perception through sound and light to create continuously shifting moods and images. Since the internalisation of the present moment is a central theme in the artists’ approach to this project, visitors are prohibited from using any technology within the exhibition space. The decision to showcase the project for only two days highlights the notion that some experiences are not meant to be constantly accessible, particularly in an era of permanent availability.
RAT KINGZ MANIFESTO
Hard way in, easy way out
Low budget, highest standard
Rat kings are the highest at the party
We are on all guest lists even if we are not cus we are rat kings
The barn is our castle
Rat kings have no past, but a future so bright we got 2 wear shades
Mind dirty, but cute af
Rat kings give birth 2 themselves and will get what they want
All sleeping bags must be stolen
Tooth brushes must be used and drugs must be taken
Rat kings always have some money left
We know everything and know what 2 do even when we don’t
A.C.A.B. XOXOXO yours truly
